Play Selection for 2018-2019

CALL FOR DIRECTORS FOR A2CT'S 2018-19 2ND STAGE AND JUNIOR SEASONS!

CALL FOR DIRECTORS
A2CT 2018-2019 SECOND STAGE SEASON

Ann Arbor Civic Theatre is currently seeking directors for its 2018-19 Second Stage season.  A2CT will choose two shows to produce in its 40-seat black box Studio Theater: one in fall 2018, and the other in spring 2019. This intimate venue is ideal for productions featuring smaller casts, experimental material or staging, and lesser-known plays and musicals. These productions can feature established works or original scripts. Each Second Stage production will run for two weekends.

All directors interested in proposing a show for A2CT's Second Stage season should submit an application which includes a resume, a short summary of the show, a digital copy of the script (if possible), and the director's vision for the production. Each director may submit one or two shows for consideration. Applications should be submitted by email to manager@a2ct.org by 4pm Wednesday, March 28. Applications, guidelines, and Second Stage budget information can be found at the bottom of the page.

A2CT aims to serve diverse audiences and provide opportunities for diverse performers, designers, and technicians. We encourage all directors to consider and share in their proposal how their production will promote participant diversity (gender, race, age, etc.).

Please contact Executive Director Alix Berneis at the A2CT office, 971-2228, or via e-mail at: manager@a2ct.org with any questions.

CALL FOR DIRECTORS
A2CT 2018-2019 JUNIOR THEATRE SEASON

Junior Theatre is A2CT's program for young actors in grades 4-12 (though directors are welcome to open it to grades 1 and up), and shows are geared for kids 3 and up. Productions take place at various theaters. We look for proposals of youth-centered scripts, with reasonably well known titles and a positive, inspiring message. We cast 15-30 kids per performance.

We’re looking for directors for our 2018-2019 season.  If you have experience directing young actors, we’d love to hear from you.  If you have an idea for a children’s show to direct, that’s great, but we are also willing to discuss titles we consider good options as well. Keep in mind that Junior Theatre productions should have onstage opportunities for a minimum of 15 young actors, should be between 45-90 minutes in length, and be geared for kids ages 3 and up. Recognizable titles and plays with lots of characters are the best! We will consider both musicals and non-musicals, and usually choose one of each per season; typically a play in late fall/early winter, and a musical in spring (May). A2CT aims to serve diverse audiences and provide opportunities for diverse performers, designers, and technicians. We encourage all directors to consider and share in their proposal how their production will promote participant diversity (gender, race, age, etc.).

Junior Theatre directors are paid positions, and require availability 2 weekday afternoons and one weekend afternoon during the 8 week audition and rehearsal period.

All directors interested in proposing a show for A2CT's Junior Theatre season should submit an application which includes a resume, a short summary of the show, a digital copy of the script (if possible), and the director's vision for the production. Each director may submit one or two shows for consideration. Applications should be submitted by email to manager@a2ct.org by 4pm Wednesday, March 28. Applications and Junior Theatre budget information can be found at the bottom of the page.
