A2CT's Junior Theatre offers opportunities for young actors to learn about and participate in theatre productions, as well as attend summer camps and theatre-related workshops.

Our Junior Theatre productions are suitable for audience members ages 3 and up.

We offer very reasonable ticket prices, to allow all families to attend these productions.

Junior Theatre is a program for young actors in grades 4-12 (though directors are welcome to open it to grades 1 and up), and shows are geared for kids 3 and up. Productions take place at various theaters. We look for proposals of youth-centered scripts, with reasonably well known titles and a positive, inspiring message. We cast 18-30 kids per performance.

Call for Directors for the A2CT Junior Theatre 2019-2020 Season!

Applications Due: Monday, March 4 @ 4:00 PM

We’re looking for directors for our 2019-2020 Junior Theatre season. If you have experience directing young actors, we’d love to hear from you! If you have an idea for a children’s show to direct, that’s great, but we also have a few titles for you to consider. Keep in mind that Junior Theatre productions should have onstage opportunities for a minimum of 18 young actors, should be between 45-90 minutes in length, and be geared for kids’ audiences ages 4 and up. Shows should also have casting opportunity for diverse actors. While there are many, many great shows for young people, recognizable titles and plays with lots of characters are the best!

Junior Theatre produces a late fall play and a spring musical. Shows are geared toward children, and the actors involved are in grades 4-12. Our tentative performance dates are December 6-8, 2019 and May 8-10, 2020. We are open to discussing potential alternate venues and dates with directors who have those in mind.

A2CT Junior Theatre productions require an assistant director and producer; 2 adults must be present for all rehearsals. Directors, Assistant Directors, and Producers must have on file, or be willing to get a standard background check. These are stipended positions and require availability 2-3 hours on 2 weekday afternoons and one weekend afternoon during the 8-10 week audition and rehearsal period, as well as longer times every day of tech/production week (including all 5 performances).

TO APPLY: Please click the button below and fill out the form. You may submit up to two titles for consideration. Please include as much information as possible. In addition, please submit the following via email to Alix at manager@a2ct.org:

  • A digital copy of the script (if at all possible)
  • Venue and date information if you are suggesting alternate venues or dates. Please also include your reason for choosing any alternate venue.
  • A resume and 3 references if you are new to A2CT
