Improv workshop

Hey, all you budding improvisation actors! Here's a chance to learn the craft, hone your skills, and perform for friends and family! This winter, due to popular demand, we are starting a JT improv group for actors in GRADES 4rth-12th, led by Kat Altman, the director of Fairy Tale Family Vacation and Snow Queen. The improv workshop runs 8 Tuesdays, from 4-6pm, beginning February 3 (with one week off--February 17 for AAPS break) and ending March 31. The final--FREE--performance will take place at 5pm on March 31, and friends and family are invited. All workshop sessions and the performance take place at the A2CT Studio at 322 West Ann St.

Students will meet for eight weeks to learn the art of improv, where performers use their imaginations to create theatre and tell stories with no script or preparation. Starting from foundational improv work focused on physicality and movement, we will move into more complex exercises which will help students develop voice, communication, and character development techniques. The class will culminate with a live improv performance on the final day. Improv is one of the best ways for actors to hone their skills and improve their craft. No previous experience is required and all students in GRADES 4rth-12th are welcome.

Cost: $60. The workshop will not conflict with 101 Dalmatians rehearsals, and young actors are encouraged to participate in both the workshop and the play. Those who participate in both will get $10 off each registration fee, for a savings of $20. Partial, sliding-scale scholarships are available for all Junior Theatre plays, camps, and workshops.

To register, either fill out the form below and return to the A2CT office with payment, or call 734-971-2228 to register by phone. Hurry--space is limited!
